The LAX, or Airport Courthouse, is located at 11701 S. La Cienega, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
This courthouse is a newer 9 story building and provides state of the art facilities – including a stocked cafeteria, plenty of parking options and, most importantly, comfortable courtrooms. I have fought many cases in these courtrooms and most of the Judges are fair and objective.
While you’re waiting for me to fight your drunk driving arrest in Los Angeles, you’ll be able to have breakfast in the 1st floor cafeteria. This court hears both felony and misdemeanor cases. There are other services provided in the building, such as a county recorder’s office, a place to get your marriage license and to get married by a Judge or clerk.
The LAX courthouse has both Commissioners and Judges. You have a right to a Judge for your trial. The Judges have heard it all in this courthouse, and will try to get all parties to settle their cases. The Judges here are fair and will give ample time to hear your case. Your case will not be compromised because someone wasn’t paying attention. These Judges will leave you knowing where you stand – there is no room for ambiguity in a court room and these bench officers explain themselves in no uncertain terms.
Typical cases at this court include domestic violence, drugs, theft, criminal fraud and some cases far more serious than drunk driving. Justice moves along swiftly at this location – you won’t have to wait long to know what is happening in regard to your DUI arrest.
Most Judges and Commissioners take the bench about 9:00 AM. This means you will be able to get to your hearing in a timely manner and still be able to carry on with the rest of your day, since 90% of hearings are finished in the morning.
A DUI arrest does not have to ruin you or your reputation. There is a chance that you will get your first DUI totally dismissed at this court with a great lawyer. Although this is a nice courthouse, if you see it again it will be too soon. Once the Judges at the LAX Courthouse see you for a second arrest, you can rest assured that you will likely be spending time in jail or prison. Judges are all reasonable people, but they have the upmost respect for the law and will not hesitate to put repeat offenders to jail. If you are a repeat offender, then I highly suggest you get the best lawyer you can afford. But even first time offenders need a serious lawyer to avoid having a DUI on their record.
If you get arrested for a DUI in Los Angeles, you cannot afford to wait for a DUI attorney to find you. You need to find one as quickly as possible. After 10 days you will automatically lose your right to a DMV hearing if you do not take action. Don’t settle for a rookie, you will need to get an experienced DUI defense lawyer to represent you for your arrest at the LAX courthouse.
My firm has been appearing at this courthouse since it first opened. This means that we have created, nurtured, and maintained relationships with most of the Judges, Commissioners, Prosecutors, clerks and other court personnel. Our relationship with these legal professionals is going to provide you with a benefit most firms cannot offer you. These relationships will be extremely beneficial to help your case is settled with a plea bargain or we get the prosecutor to agree to dismiss the charges.
Plea bargains are a deal worked out between the Defense Attorney and the Prosecutor. When you have worked with the prosecutor before, you have a distinct advantage. They are familiar with me and know how I work – this can expedite your case and court hearing. If, for whatever reason, there is an issue working with a certain prosecutor, it is possible for me to get a different Judge or Prosecutor assigned to your case. This is because each defendant has the right to “paper” a Judge or Commissioner once in each case under Code of Civil Procedure 170.6. (Peremptory challenge). You, the Defendant, will then be assigned to a different Judge. I cannot make any promises, but there is an excellent chance that there will be a different Prosecutor as well.
I have an exacting process when it comes to DUI arrests. I will begin to fight your DUI arrest by aiming to get your case totally dismissed. If the evidence is overwhelming, the next move will be to try to get a plea bargain and a reduction to “reckless driving” or “exhibition of speed”, which could save your driver’s license.
I have been very successful in this courthouse. DUI’s with accident/injury can be charged as a felony, but you cannot just accept this as fact. It’s possible to get any charge changed, reduced, or dismissed. The District Attorney will likely want jail or prison time if you are convicted of a felony. For a 2nd DUI, you will have to serve at least 96 hours in jail (two weekends) if you are convicted.
It’s best to take a proactive approach to your Los Angeles DUI arrest. Please do not hesitate to call me even after business hours or on weekends since I work on Saturdays. I have had many cases dismissed or reduced. I am here to help and I am confident that I can get your case resolved and you can get your life back in order.
If you have been arrested for drunk driving in Los Angeles, you only have 10 days to save your license.
